Bo'Darc Dixie Delivery

" Dave "

I don't even know where to begin to tell you about Dave.  Let me start by telling you how Dave came to be.   He is a product of two outstanding birddogs.  Dave's sire, Big Delivery, was a tremendous gun dog, trial dog, and producer.  Dave's dam, Bo'Darc Dixie Fiddle, was THE most incredible as well as pleasurable animal I'd ever been to the field with, as well as, to just be around.  I was only able to raise two litters out of this fantastic jewel before her untimely death.  Dixie's second and final litter was the mating to Big Delivery.  She died to a twisted gut, when this litter was 5 weeks old .  I'd never seen this before and I haven't seen it since.  That's usually how the great ones go, by some freak incident.  Just so you'll know where I'm coming from, Dixie is the cornerstone of this kennel.

When this Dixie/Big Delivery litter was still young but showing great promise, the nicer males were "placed" into the hands of a man that was to get them ready and then campaign the best in some NSTRA trials.  The top prospect from this already choice group was Dave.  At a very early age, he showed to have it all: nose, intelligence, ability, style, class, with classic Fiddler looks.  He was the type of dog that everyone wanted.  You just couldn't take your eye off of him.  To make a long story short, after some time had passed,  I called to ask about the progress of this litter.  I was told that they had all died from possibly drinking some anti-freeze left under a vehicle that was being repaired while the pups had been out and about during an exercise session.

Now the rest of the story.........

During a recent phone conversation with a gentleman he conveyed to me that he had spoken with a friend of his, who had been told by a acquaintance of this "friend of a friend"  had hunted with a dog that had originally came from this kennel.  Out of curiosity I asked what dog that may have been, to which he replied,  "I don't remember much of our conversation other than the guy said this was a very nice black and white male dog and the dog's name was Dave."  Well that sat me up in my chair!  To my knowledge I was only aware of one of my dogs having ever been named "Dave", could it be?   I asked if he would be kind enough to ask his friend, to then ask his friend to find the owner of this Dave dog for me.  Well guess what....after a couple of weeks had passed, I was given a phone number, I made the call and sure enough...it was the Dave dog that left here many years ago as a lanky pup.

To say I am pleased that Dave has been found is an understatement.  The opportunity to raise offspring by him is a dream of mine that has come true!

Dave is a well made medium sized male with a very good frame under him. He was an early starter and is a complete natural from every aspect.  He has tremendous drive and desire, along with a very good, if not exceptional nose, combined with the same intelligence inherited from his dam that I love so much.  He has had the opportunity to point and retrieve hundreds of birds, as he has been hunted 3 to 4 times a week all bird season long, every year since he's been about 2 years old.

Dave is 9 years old, so he is no spring chicken.  My plan is to breed him to 4 or 5 females this summer/early fall.  Be looking for some matings from Dave, a fantastic son of my beloved Bo'Darc Dixie Fiddle, in the very near future.

I can't thank you enough Raymond for allowing me to borrow Dave.  I know in my heart that his offspring will forever be in the Bo'Darc bloodline.....
